The small coastal town of Bolinas is located on the Bolinas Peninsula, in picturesque West Marin, Northern California. It is situated an hours drive north of San Francisco, up Highway 1, in the middle of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Bolinas was first discovered by Miwok tribes who believed the peninsula was sacred ground. In the 1960s its beauty, beaches, hikes, and isolation were discovered by various artists and poets (including some of the most well-known of the post-modern movement: Ginsberg , Duncan, Ferlinghetti , Spicer, to name a few).

The Bolinas community is not generally welcoming to tourists (despite an ever growing influx of surfers and weekenders). The NCEFG, however, does welcome visitors. If you are interested in joining us please email for directions and details on our next season at Staff@NCEFG.ORG.
